DK Wilson as usual has his facts wrong and doesn't understand the basic rules of logic. His first columns on this topic raged about how Vick was obviously innocent and would never be indicted. Here again we have the same incoherent rants and rambling. It isn't worth spending a lot of time correcting the obvious flaws so I will just copy my comments on previous DK Wilson columns which have now been proved to be completely wrong without Wilson every owning up to past mistakes: Dear Editors The article "*The Michael Vick Case Pulls Back the Veil on Who We Really Are*" is completely illogical - regardless of whether Vick is guilty or 100% innocent He attacks those who say that Vick's behaviour should be treated by the same standards as other, average football players. He justifies that attack by asserting that if one gets paid more for contributing more on the football field, then that's equally discriminating. On multiple occaisions with minor variations, he says, "What I do not advocate is our seeming disconnect in thinking that these poor dogs are utterly defenseless ..." Whereas it's obvious that the dogs are completely under the control of the humans. He asserts "We are at a place in history where we laud the supposition that we love and value animals more than humans" without giving any coherent argument or any relevant point that supports that assertion. He seems to be so angry, full of hate and inarticulate that many of his paragraphs are difficult to even see what he's trying to say. Every aspect of every action seems to be interpreted in terms of his single framework, namely, racial hatred of blacks. For a few people out of hundreds on millions that's still an accurate perception. But for most people who care, it's about truly disgusting behavior with some concerns that football stardom and celebrity status won't block justice. Later in the article, he's upset about a woman being raped. Let's assume he's correct and that was a great injustice. Then he should write about that. However, to say because there was that injustice it's hypocritical and flagrantly racist to become concerned about another injustice is missing the obvious. Yes, a scandal/crime involving a celebrity is going to get more publicity than one involving an unknown. If dogs are mistreated as they are in dog fighting and especially as they are alleged to have been treated here, then most decent people, possibly not including D. K. Wilson, are going to be very upset and equally upset at the perpetrator regardless of race. Having found this article reminiscent of the stupidity of the endless rant in another article entitled "*Michael Vick Will Not Be Indicted: Shhhhhhhh!", I looked at it again and I now see that that article was by the same author. Again, the problem was not his position as I agree that one should not jump to conclusions and find someone guilty prematurely. He could have written a coherent, logical piece on that thesis, However, ironically he seemed to being the one to jump to conclusions. He wrote when the initial indictment did not name Vick, "Michael Vick will not be indicted in the dog fighting flap... There's no indictment forthcoming " And the whole article was mindless rant without a single interesting point. All of Wilson's attacks on others seem to be far more true of himself. You really should read articles before you print them - this one does not reflect well on the publisher. ---------------------- As I wrote in my prior email below, the early July "Michael Vick Will Not Be Indicted: Shhhhhhhh!" article would have to be considered an extremely stupid rant even if Michael Vick had been proved beyond a shadow of a doubt to been without blame. However, today's indictment shows how _premature_, in addition to being _immature_, that article was. It casts the editorial board of the Chicago Sports Review in a doubly bad light. It's great to present both sides of an issue - in this case, the pro and con for Vick - however, mindless rants without any intelligence is not good reporting.
